Hussein Chalayan Fashion Designer

British/Turkish Cypriot Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan was born in Nicosia, Turkish 1970 and graduated from the Turkish Maarif College.

Later on, Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan shifted to England along with his family in 1978. Over there, Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan acquired British citizenship and continued study fashion designing in London. In 1993, Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan secured his graduation degree in 1993, from Central Saint Martin’s and named his graduation collection as "The Tangent Flows". Fortunately, the graduation collection by Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan created instantaneous impression and gained a lot of fame. The entire compilation was obtained and displayed in lavish designer store Browns in London. Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan beat 100 competitors to secure a top London fashion design award, in 1995. At the age of 25, in October 1995, Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan received financial backing of £28,000, in the contest planned by the company "Absolut"; to increase formations for the British capital's Fashion Week. Supermodel Caroline Trentini showcased his dresses in many fashion shows.

Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan worked with avant-garde pop diva Björk, in 1995. Björk wears the designed jacket Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan on the iconic cover of her album Post. In October 1995, Björk also modeled for Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan for London Fashion week. Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan was appointed as a design consultant for New York knitwear label TSE, in the fall of 1998. The collaboration of Ready to Wear and Accessories by Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan with them lasted in 2001. Because of his achievements and success, Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan was crowned with 'British Designer of the Year' award in 1999 and 2000. On the 17th of June 2006, Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan was awarded as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan tremendously achieved the international popularity and in 2007, he was awarded with Design Star Honoree by The Fashion Group International at their annual Night of Stars Gala, New York.
