Vivienne Westwood Show for AW 2011-2012

Restraint has never been Vivienne Westwood’s feature of creativity and personality. This icon of style is always full of designer fantasies. This has been confirmed by her new show at Paris Fashion Week.

In the era of minimalism and predilections of many designers for classic shapes and silhouettes, Westwood continues “following her line”: there is not a single hint of minimalism in her collections. Gold, unusual shocking forms and even the models’ makeup do not give the audience a chance to relax at least for a second.

So what have the faddists seen in Vivienne Westwood’s new collection? That punk is still in this woman’s blood. But at the same time, the indefatigable lady has managed to please absolutely all potential clients with her new line. For young slim ladies, she has in store micro-shorts which (despite the autumn season) are told to be worn with leggings. For extravagant people, there is, for example, a dress with a round skirt. Conservative ladies will find cozy tweed coats. In general, colors are within Vivienne Westwood’s traditional pattern: beige, black, gold, khaki, some orange and related shades.

Jean Paul Gaultier AW 2011-2012

Jean-Paul Gaultier has announced that he is against botox and plastic surgery and presented the viewers at Paris Fashion Week with his latest collection dedicated to the woman irrespective of her age. Addressing the journalists, the designer claimed he had dedicated his collection to the women who do not want to dress like their teenage daughters. He also confessed he had been inspired by the true Parisian bourgeois character.

That is why the show was opened by the 46-year-old actress Valerie Lemercier, and not some young top model. Her appearance set the mood of the whole show. Strict trouser suits, silk blouses, trench coats and overcoats were made in the noble ash-gray and sandy hues, and the models themselves admitted that cooperation with the Hermes left a deep impression on the designer’s aesthetic vision.

Despite the fact that the collection proved to be classic (and even conservative in terms of Gaultier’s creative activity), you cannot call it asexual: silk pants with prints, close-fitting jackets, blouses with deep necklines and overalls decorated with Lurex did not look provocative, but very attractive indeed.

Elegant Retro by Lanvin at Paris Fashion Week

A weeping willow has become the background of the new Lanvin collection at Paris Fashion Week. “Everybody needs a tree,” the creative director of the fashion house Alber Elbaz said before the fashion show. “Branches, roots… We go back to our traditional roots.”

The ascetic collection is largely consonant with the creative activity of Elbaz’ teacher, Jeffrey Bean, and unlike others, it has been performed mainly in dark colors with an outbreak of the aristocratic scarlet hues at the very end.

Wide-brimmed hats, form-fitting coat trimmed with gems, tweed ponchos, lacquered Brogo, vintage rectangular handbags – at first it seemed that Elbaz appealed to the conservative 1960-s. However, in the middle of the fashion show, typical Lanvin details appeared on the podium: wavy sleeves in the haute couture style, magnificent jacquard skirts, ruffles, and romantic transparent silk exposing the graceful silhouette.

The spirit of the old-fashioned time and the atmosphere of the grandmother’s chest did not fail to impress the guests during the fashion show. And the models presented by Elbaz looked just so warm, cozy, and aristocratic!

Paris fashion show by Jean Paul Gaultier wowed long time fans, but you can’t say the show was bold and edgy, an attitude always expected from Gaultier.

This time the designer’s fall/winter collection captured the essence of the Gaultier brand. Black color, lots of furs and leather coupled with rich and lively colors, deep blue and yellow. One of the most amazing things about the show was skyrocketed hairstyles worn by models.

The highlight of the show was Dita Von Teese.
