Oscar De La Renta Fashion Designer


One of the world’s leading Fashion designers, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta was born on 22nd of July, 1932 in Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic, and is 77 of age now.

Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta moved to Spain, to study painting from the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid, when he was only 18 years old.Soon Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta changed his area of interest from painting to the glamorous world of Fashion. Both of the initial interested platforms of Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta were co-related with one another, sketching and the designing. Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta first started designing for different Spanish fashion houses. Due to his hard work, the Spain's most well-known couturier, Cristóbal Balenciaga appreciated the design philosophy of the Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.

After showing his guts in Spain, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta left Spain and shifted to Paris. In Paris, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta joined with Antonio Castillo as a couture assistant at Lanvin. In 1963, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta turned as adviser to Diana Vreeland, who was the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. Then for two years, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta proceeded to work for Arden and in 1965, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta work for Jane Derby and launched his label. After the death of Derby in August 1965, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta took the charge of his Label.He also did many fashion shows to display his designgs.

Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has achieved many national & international awards, because of his dedication towards his work and for his unique style mania. Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta remained winner of the American Fashion Critic's Award in 1973. In February 1990, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta was honored with the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award. Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta received the CFDA Women’s wear Designer of the Year Award in 2000 and in 2007. From 1973 to 1976, and then from 1986 to 1988, Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta also served as the President of CFDA. Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta became the first Dominican to design for a French couture house, while designing the haute couture collection for the house of Pierre Balmain, in 1993 to 2002.

Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta is also serving on the boards of several charitable institutions for example New Yorkers for Children, the America's Society and is presently chairman of the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute.

The Dominican Republic has honored Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta with the order al Mérito de Juan Pablo Duarte and the Order of Cristóbal Colón as well. Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has contributed comprehensively in manufacturing needed schools at The PUNTACANA Resort and Club in Punta Cana.
