SI Swimsuit Models Humble Vegas

Las Vegas is Sin City, and it is not easily vanquished, or so you would think...until seventeen of the hottest swimsuite models on the planet descend upon it, as happened on February 16.

The models gathered at nightclub LAX to celebrate the launch of 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition . Fortunately for the heart health of the city, they were not clad in bikinis, as they were when they posed for the Swimsuit issue.

The models arrived in sin city AM hours for a two day celebration after their New York bash Tuesday, February 15, hosted by Pranna restaurant.

Russian beauty Irina Shayk is the lucky cover girl on the 2011 special edition.

Brooklyn Decker, a former SI cover girl, took a break from promoting her debut film, Just Go With It, to party with fellow beauties in Vegas.

Vegas officials are serious when it comes to non serious pursuits. In the spirit of the city - equally at ease letting you go bust or letting you see bust - City Mayor Oscar Goodman attended an event Thursday morning, February 17, to honor the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue models.

At the event he renamed Rue de Monte Carlo, an access street to the Monte Carlo, as Swimsuit Boulevard, but only for a day!

To better understand the Mayor's motivation for the temporary renaming, taking a look at what he was seeing - all the sexy models. In the photos below, you see them dressed to kill, walking the red carpet at LAX hosted party

Tyra Banks Fashion Model

Tyra Banks has certainly become a household name, and not by accident. Her story is a classic tale of persistent ambition, which began on December 4, 1973.

When she was a senior in high school, Tyra signed with Elite Model Management and went from catalogs to Paris Fashion Week. There, designers were so taken aback by her presence on the runway that she was booked for an exceptional 25 shows, a record for a newcomer to say the least.

She then went on to model for countless campaigns and covers, most notably the February 1997 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition and GQ's January 2000 issue, becoming the first solo black woman to appear on the cover of either of these two popular magazines.

Her long-term contract with CoverGirl and five years with Victoria's Secret further increased her visibility as she became a recognizable fan favorite. She's received the prestigious Michael Award for Supermodel of the Year, as well as two Teen Choice Awards for Favorite Supermodel.

Following her book, Tyra's Beauty Inside & Out, she established the Tyra Banks Scholarship to give African-American girls the opportunity to attend the same all-girl private school she went to. In July of 2000, she began TZONE, an annual summer camp experience for teenage girls designed to encourage independence and enhance self-esteem.

In 2003, her hit reality show America's Next Top Model first aired. Two years later she decided to leave the modeling world altogether to focus on television ventures and launched her daily talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, in 2005. Just three years later, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show.

TIME named Tyra one of the Most Influential People in the World in 2007 for a second-consecutive year (she is only one of four African-Americans and seven women to have continually ranked among the world’s most influential people), and was named one of Glamour's Women of the Year in 2008.

"I'm passionate about inspiring people to fulfill their own dreams and fantasies through entertainment that is engaging, uplifting, and of course, fun!" she has said. "This is my dream realized." Whatever her future successes bring, we're just glad to be along for the ride

Although the Russian beauty is a Professional model, she is far from obsessed with her appearance. Her true passion is art, and it is rare to spot her without a sketchbook in hand sketching everything around her. It is indeed refreshing to see an intelligent and modest supermodel on the scene.

Valeria has a natural yearning to help those less fortunate, and did everything she could in her spare time to help others. The 5'10", blue-eyed blonde knew she made it in the big leagues when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue with Tyra Banks in 1996. Raquel Zimmermann Fashion Model

Raquel Zimmermann was born in Bom Retiro do Sul, RS, Brazil on May 6, 1983. As a child, Raquel Zimmermann was very tall for her age, and even though she was a dedicated student, her peers felt that her height made her an ideal model. Shirley Mallmann was the Brazilian supermodel of the time, and Raquel Zimmermann decided to give it a chance by joining a modeling school at the age of 12. Two years later, a modeling scout "discovered" Raquel Zimmermann and sent her to Japan and Paris to kick-start a modeling career.

In 1999, Raquel Zimmermann debuted in Paris for Chanel and Valentino. She soon followed with a cover shoot for French Vogue in 2000 and a Christian Dior contract in 2001. After another cover shoot for French Elle that same year, Raquel Zimmermann got a chance to appear on the Italian Vogue cover for acclaimed photographer Steven Meisel. Rachel Hunter Fashion Model

Rachel Hunter was born September 9, 1969, to a middle-class family in Auckland, New Zealand. Her parents endured a rocky relationship, and they eventually divorced when Rachel was still a child.

Although Rachel was more reserved and inhibited as a young girl, her personality seemed to undergo a dramatic transformation in 1982 when she was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. Following her recovery, Rachel became much more extroverted, which may have given her the fuel she needed to pursue a career in the spotlight.

While she had always dreamed of becoming a ballerina, Rachel inevitably wound up posing for the camera. A model by age 17, Rachel soon graced the covers of countless fashion magazines, including Vogue and Cosmopolitan.

At the young age of 21, Rachel's life in the public eye took on a whole new meaning when she wed Rod Stewart, who was 24 years her senior. Together they had two children: Renee and Liam, now nine and seven respectively.

By 1994, Rachel had established herself as a top fashion model, both on the runway and on magazine covers. She began appearing in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, as well as the accompanying videos.

In January 1999, Rachel and Rod separated, and both quickly went their separate ways. Rachel has apparently been romantically linked with everyone from Mark McGrath to Bruce Willis. For the time being though, she remains single.

Life after Rod has been a busy one for Rachel. She worked on several independent films, including 1999's A Walk in the Park and 2000's Two Shades of Blue, and had a small part in 2001's Rock Star. In addition, she also hosted a fitness program for VH-1 and released several exercise videos.

She has also been very vocal about animal rights, making a notable trip to Congo to bring awareness to the gorilla crisis that is ongoing there.

But life for Rachel after marriage hasn't been without its setbacks, most notably a cancer scare, which, luckily, proved to be non-threatening.

While her workload is not as hectic, career wise, Rachel is raising her two children while continuing to fight for her charitable causes and auditioning for films.

Furthermore, she modelled for Roberto Cavalli and Kenzo, and briefly appeared in the Victoria's Secret catalog.

She received the certificate of excellence award at the 2006 Brooklyn International Film Festival for her performance in L'Annulaire, and also starred in the Paris, je t'aime segment Quartier de la Madeleine opposite Elijah Wood. In 2007, Kurylenko starred in Hitman alongside Timothy Olyphant, in which she did a full nude scene. She played Bond girl Camille Montes in the 2008 James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. The film was released in the United States on her 29th birthday.

Kurylenko was featured on the cover of the December 2008 issue of the US edition of Maxim and on the cover of the February 2009 issue of the Ukrainian edition of Maxim magazine.

The fact that she is the first Bond girl from a post-Soviet state received mixed reactions in post-Soviet countries. The Saint Petersburg based Communist group KPLO has accused her of "moral and intellectual betrayal" in starring in a film about the "enemy of the Soviet people" (meaning James Bond) (Kurylenko considered that a PR move), but the mayor of Berdyansk has suggested naming a street after her and Kurylenko and her mother met Ukraine's First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko in President Yushchenko's family country house.
