Nina Ricci Fashion Designer


Fashion house Nina Ricci was established in 1932, in Paris; by Maria "Nina" Ricci and her son Robert.Fashion designer Maria Nina used to design gown and Robert took the responsibility of managing the business and finances.

Due to the work hard of both the Fashion designer Maria Nina and Robert, Fashion house Nina Ricci soon gained much fame and became popular. Particularly, Fashion house Nina Ricci was popular in designing sophisticated & romantic outfits for the ladies with the true feminine feel. In 1945, after the war that was going on, when the designer were transferring about, Robert Ricci developed an idea and that was appreciated by the President of the Chambre, Lucien Lelong. According to that idea, about 150 models from 40 couturiers were dressed in the Fashion house Nina Ricci label’s and have participated in an exhibition at the Louvre, in Paris. Fashion house Nina Ricci later moved to Europe and USA after that huge success.

After earning immense admiration in the haute couture designing, Fashion house Nina Ricci launched perfume line, “Coeur Joie” in 1946. In 1948 Fashion house Nina Ricci came up with one more fragrance, “L’Air du Temps”, which was the most popular fragrance of the Fashion house Nina Ricci. Fashion house Nina Ricci was also honored as a pioneer in licensing their designs before the rise of Ready-to-wear. In 1960, Fashion house Nina Ricci started licensing their outlines to enhance boutiques for instance Chez Ninon, in New York and Betty Charnuis in Hong Kong, for more manufacture. In 1954, the son of Fashion designer Maria Nina Jules-Francois Crahay, joined Fashion house Nina Ricci.

Jules-Francois Crahay went to Lanvin as well but continued to carry on the name of Fashion house Nina Riccis with gorgeous and stylish dresses. After the death of Fashion designer Maria Nina in 1970, Jules-Francois Crahay took the charge of Fashion house Nina Riccis. Robert continued to do extremely well in perfume lines and business until his death in 1988.

In 1988, Fashion designer Massimo Guissain purchased the Fashion house Nina Riccis from Crahay. The new designer’s charge presented the first collection of Fashion house Nina Riccis in 2001. In May 2002, American designer James Aguiar was appointed as chief designer of the Fashion house Nina Riccis for two seasons. Later on, soon in 2003, Lars Nilsson took over the Fashion house Nina Riccis. In 2006, He launched some more new designs by the Fashion house Nina Riccis. In 2009, Theyskens was substituted by designer Peter Copping, who worked previously for Louis Vuitton.
